With an influx of new toys and clothes for Christmas, your child's room is probably bursting at the seams. January is a good time to tackle that mess and select some things that everyone can agree should be passed on to another family or donated to a charity.
Cleaning out closets can give you and your child a sense of accomplishment when order is restored. Toys are more fun to play with when all of the parts are there, and getting dressed in the morning is easier when the outgrown clothes aren't in the way.
Make the January Purge a fun family routine that even the youngest can enjoy. Toddlers can be recruited for sock-matching duties, and older children can put on a "fashion show" with too-snug pants and shirts separated to a donate pile.
Clear the clutter and enjoy a few minutes or order!
